5 Mahesh Bhatt Controversies That Shocked Bollywood
1) Ghosts of the Roast
In a statement to a leading private news channel, Mahesh questioned why was no FIR filed against Sonakshi Sinha and was it because she is the daughter of an MP. To which, Sonakshi replied that even Alia Bhatt’s name was missing in some of the FIRs! Ouch.
2) Bad Daddy?
Rahul Bhatt, Mahesh’s son, has often been vocal about his sour relationship with his father. He even went on to say that had Mahesh not treated him like a bastard child, he would probably never had become friends with David Headley, the accused in the Mumbai terror attacks.
3) Critiquing Bollywood
Mahesh Bhatt surely left a lot of people red in the face, after his appearance on Koffee With Karan. He called Sanjay Leela Bhansali an overrated director and called Barfi an overrated film. But what left Karan at a loss for words was when he called Kajol the most over-rated actress in Bollywood. Shots fired!
4) On Aamir’s Acting
On the same show, when asked to rank Bollywood stars based on their acting ability, Mahesh placed Aamir Khan on the lowest rung. And that’s not the first time he has been nasty towards Aamir. He had accused Aamir of lobbying for the Oscars with Lagaan and has criticized Delhi Belly for being sleazy in the past.
5) This scene, straight out of Game of Thrones!
Mahesh and daughter Pooja locked their lips for a magazine cover. As if it wasn’t controversial already, he added this: “If Pooja wasn't my daughter, I'd love to marry her.” And this was back in the 80s, mind you!
